The Journey

brentawilson22

By around 9 tomorrow night, we will know if the Kansas City Chiefs make history. 3 Super Bowls in a row. Beat the Eagles. Beat the 49er. Now we play the Eagles again. It is somewhat humorous to listen to the pundits make predictions. It is funny to listen to fans think they know exactly what will happen. The reality is that we may very well win 3 Super Bowls in a row. There is also easily a reality where the Chiefs lose. And so because of those different possible outcomes, we all need to learn to make sure we are enjoying the journey. If we lose was the season lost? Certainly not. Was the season a loss for any team not named the Eagles or Chiefs? Absolutely not. From September to early January, NFL cities all across the country were brining joy to the people in their city. Is a season defined by the final game? I think not. And if you really think about it, nothing should be judged by a single game. Or a single outcome. Or a single action. Or a single word spoken. Or a single thought in our mind. Yes, we should be held accountable and judged for our actions. But one word we said we didn't really mean? One thought we really wouldn't act upon? Or a team and a city judged on one game? I think not. Some would say I'm just setting myself up for a loss. And maybe I am. But let's all commit to living in the moment, the season we are in, loving those around us, and just soaking it up. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. We are not guaranteed health. We can, however, determine how we will respond and react to the things around us. So let's enjoy our job and co-workers and learn more about them. Let's enjoy being in the big game, not just winning it. Let's love our neighbors, our family, and those strangers we just met. Soak it up. Live. Enjoy. And let's go Chiefs!
