Staying or Going?

Are the Chiefs staying in KCMO or leaving for Kansas? Are the Royals moving to downtown KCMO, up north, or also to KS? There will be many discussions over the upcoming months and people will have opinions as to who screwed up. Who won. Who lost. And what it means for the economy. So much of our opinions are tied to tradition or what we grew up with. As for the Chiefs, whatever. I love the Chiefs. I love winning Super Bowls. But it is the Kansas City Royals who have my heart. It is the days of growing up and watching George Brett, Amos Otis, Willie Wilson, and Frank White. Yes, even Frank White, the man who may be most responsible if the Royals do move due to his incompetence and lack of leadership. But that's for another day, maybe. It is getting dropped off at Royals Stadium, buying a $5 seat in general admission, and hoping a ball got thrown up into the stands. And the seats - oh, the orange seats. It is hanging out for autographs after the game. It is attending Game 7 of the 1985 World Series and a Saturday World Series game against the Phillies in 1980. It is attending the 2014 World Series and winning in 2015. It is Ewing and Muriel Kauffman, Buck night, and introducing my kids to The K. I really hope the Royals stay in KCMO. But if they don't, I'm sure memories will still be made - but dang, what a ride it was for the Royals in KCMO if they do move. I'm sure with time I'll get over it - but for now, I'm holding out hope they stay. Come on John Sherman, keep the Royals in KCMO!
