Election 2026
Election 2026 is in the books. I was not surprised at all by the big, blue wave. I have been on a political journey for many years, as have many people. In high school and college I was a big Republican. All in for the R's. And then life happened. Things that seemed like theory became a reality. I better understood the Bible as I got older and realized I had alot of unpacking to do. Alot of time early in my life was spent on believing that if you were a Christian, you were an R. Not alot of time was spent on reading Matthew 25 and translating that into your politics. But luckily, I have spent time thinking through these things. I still lean R on some things. I lean D on a few things. But mostly I want to lean in on being a good C - a Christian, and live a life that God would see as worthy. Many political pundits were talking last night about why it happened. Here is what I think happened. I think we saw a political event where "the straw that broke the camel's back" occurred. That term is generally defined as a final, minor or routine event that triggers a sudden and major reaction because of a heavy accumulation of previous problems or stress. That is what happened. And it is all because of the way President Trump has acted. You would think many of these things would have prompted this type of reaction earlier, but it did not. But yesterday it did. The mocking of a disabled reporter. The making fun of the way women look and calling them ugly. Defending and pardoning those who rammed their way into the Capitol on January 6th. Questioning election after election saying they were rigged. Fighting with journalists and banning certain ones he didn't like. Disputing crowd disputes. Fake news. Calling people dumb. Being a jerk. And all of that, and more, became too much for the American people to handle. The beauty of our country is that we handle things at the ballot box, and I hope the President realizes he is responsible for 99% of the toxic political environment that led to this debacle for his party. By the way, being a neighbor to Kansas, cheers to Adam Hamilton for his win. I was honored to host an event for him back in August and hope that he has an impact in DC. Help the R's, help the D's, and help me to be a better C.
